10 Months in London, time for a Review!

... no scoring or rating this time. Just those things:

The Myth: It always rains in London
The Hell: Planning a night out in a London Club last minute. Worked out well once so far!
The Gone: The "quid". Every time you go out partying...
The Campaign: "We’re running out of water", in England, this summer. Yeah, right…
The What: Food stinks in the UK! Sorry.
The What?: Reyes: "Everything in England is shut at 5pm, there is nothing to do!”
The Whatever: AICECKS aka ICEX
The WTF?: London Underground? Anything is possible...
The Lie: ... "... train is delayed due to signaling failure..."
The Answer: A hairdryer. An absolute must here!
The Good: My new workmates
The Bad: ... some of the ones I left behind at HQ
The Ugly: When one of your mates bumps into a chick, disappears and comes back just 4 minutes later, you know it’s bad…
The Fashion: From flip flops to leggings combined with a skirt. Nightmare! But you still see some style here and there.
The Real: Money buys everything…
The Hope: … that it can’t buy everyone!
The Quote: “So do you have your dancing shoes on?”, in a club. Riiiiiight.
The Belief: That Spain will never win a World Cup with primadonnas like Torres, Reyes, etc. on our team. No questions
The Beg: That our next national coach realizes that!!! Could I ask for Caparrós being offered the job? Please, pleaseeeeeee
The Cool: My workmate Milena
The Gift: Belletti’s winning strike in Paris! Thanks!!!
The Summer: Very Hot
The Winter: Not so cold, yet… but very humid!
The Weekend: August, S. Petri, 3 most chilling days of the year
The Weekday: paris, May, Wednesday, Barcelona…
The Beautiful One: Hanna
The Gamble: Coming to London to work, and not going overseas
The Even Bigger Gamble: Extending my contract here, ehem…

The Restaurant: The Oratory, absolutely awesome calamari
The Chain: "Nando’s", surprisingly well spiced chicken
The Pub: "The Windsor Castle" with its beer garden
The Venue: "Roof Gardens"… amazing, huge roof terrace
The Beer: Not an ale, for sure. To pick one discovered here “Kronenbourg Blanche”
The Bit Of History: Roman Baths in... Bath
The Cathedral: Canterbury… just “woooooooow”
The Pitch: Highbury… a pity Arsenal moved. All the magic is lost now.
The Shop: An Italian Boutique close to Piccadilly, I cannot think of the name, but they have amazing shoes.
The Famous: Elle McPherson. Spotted close to Notting Hill Gate
The Art: Seaport with the Embarkation of St Ursula by Claude, at the National Gallery. Secret tip: Wallace Collection

About me

  • Bonjour, I'm Marco, welcome to my little place on the Internet.
  • I started this blog when I arrived in London in early 2006, hence the name “london-connection”. In the meantime I have moved to Paris, after a short stint in Geneva. I like to write about silly stuff, about sports, travelling and going out… just about everything that crosses my mind, actually. The little things that spice life up a bit.
  • I hope you enjoy the trip...
