Random thoughts...
... about a movie (The Notebook), some Spanish Football, and yet again, the NBA PLAYOFFS (I love this gaaaaaaame):
On the movie, I watched it yesterday night, it´s called The Notebook and it´s a romaaaaaaaaaaaaaantic movie. My flatmate (a young lady) gave it to me and said it was romantic but good so I played it very late at night and yep it was OK but still... It´s just one of those movies more aimed for women. Call me insensible or whatever. That´s actually what a friend of mine, who absolutely LOOOOVED it big times and would actually marry Noah (for f*cks sake, what a name!!!), called me when she and I were discussing the plot on msn today... Hard words, yep... where´s the love?!?!? ... But I can´t help it, it is just one of those flicks that show love in such a beautiful way, it makes the ladies just wish their love stories were just like that. The title says, "Behind every great love is a great story". Yeah sure!!
Apart from that, Rachel McAdams is really fantastic in young Allie´s role. You could fall in love with her, definitely, and no one could blame you... She has great character and not only does she look lovely in the whole movie, but there´s something more behind Allie... Made me feel similar to when I watched misterious and always charming Jennifer Connelly in Walking the Dead (http://london-connection.blogspot.com/2006/04/theres-always-hope.html). Great chemistry between her and Ryan Gosling Aaaaaall the way!! Not much to argue here!!
I don´t know, maybe it was late, maybe I hadn´t recovered from the flu or maybe I was too tired from having watched too much NBA the night before, but I have to admit (under the risk of 95% of my male friends questioning my manhood from now one) that one thing touched me: The believe that there might be just this "one" true love in your life and that you maybe really should fight and go for IT, before you might loose out to fate! Pretty damn scary thought!! But that´s one thing, another one is that this scene (the kiss while the young couple is getting soaked on a boat) should have given me goosebumps, according to my friend good ol´ "Chupito". Noooooo way... and yep, maybe I am not that sensible after all. :D

Do I have to run a poll here to proof them wrong or what?!?
P.S. This much for getting goosebumps: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=2352763. Just play the video on the right side and enjoy... J-Mac, this one´s for you, amigo!!!
As for the Playoffs, here´s the situation after Game 1:
Miami (vs. Chicago), Detroit (vs. Milwaukee), Indiana (bs. New Jersey; only surprise so far) and Cleveland (vs. Washington) all lead 1-0 in the East.
In the West, the Suns (vs. Lakers), Spurs (vs. Kings), Clippers (vs. Nuggets) and Mavs (vs., well let´s call the Grizzlies "Pau and co." from now on) all lead 1-0, too.
For tonight I see Miami beating Chicago and the Clippers going 2-0 against Denver. (-> 25/04 update: Both tips where actually accurate... for once.)
Later this week, the Lakers (watch out for Kobe aka Black Mamba to score 57 or something in Game two, after his sub-par performance in Game one, where the Lakers still managed to hang on for the entire game...), Wizards and Nets will bounce back, whereas the Pistons and Spurs will go 2-0. Artest has been supsended for game 2 and the only hope I see for Sacramento is Bibby shooting the lights out for them and Shareef stepping it up (big question mark here). It could be one of those miracolous wins but the odds are not very high to be honest. A pitty, as I had Sacramento going to the Finals, maybe a bit too risky of a pick... But then again, HOPE IS A GOOD THING... :)
As for the Mavs-Grizz second game, hmmmmmmm, I could see the Grizzlies winning this one. Pau has to be on his highest level, which he actually is very close to, and if the supporting cast responds, and at least one of this guys (Miller, Battier, Jackson) has a GOOD game we might be talking Grizzzzzz aaaaaall the way. They match up pretty good with Dallas and Gasol should be able to punish them close to the basket but he has to stay down low and make his job. Then the only thing left is to control the pace of the game and not concede so many FT´s (and make their own ones: 21/29 for Memphis, yikes) and stop those mid range jumpers from the Mavs. Dallas has absolutely no one who can score from the post, hell, they made like 2 jumpers in the key in Game 1, you GOTTA take advantage of that!!!
Regarding the Relegation Drama... which I just discussed with my friend Cases on the phone. Well, this is the situation with 4 games (12 points) to go:
12 R. Sociedad 38 They will be saved I believe, upwards trend. But still, tough schedule with home games to Celta and Sevilla and away games to direct rivals such as Cádiz and Español. If they win in Cádiz next week it´s almost done for them, if not, it might still get close. If they even loose we might have a drama here...
13 Español 37 Favorable calendar here if Barça wins the league soon and R. Sociedad saves its a$$.
14 Betis 37 I bet they will be OK. Big game next week between them and Bilbao!!!
15 Athletic 35 It´s between them and Alavés, no way two Basque teams are relegated the same year, so, sorry Alavés...
16 Rácing 34 Could get very close here, their coach just resigned...
17 Mallorca 34 Will Cúper do his job... yet again? Tough schedule (Atlético, Valencia...).
18 Alavés 33 Clearly loosing control and not really giving signals of being able to save the season. Blame on you, Pieterman!!
19 Cádiz 32 I hope they can avoid relegation but I bet it´s between them and Rácing.
20 Málaga 24 Virtually relegated, but as my dad said in October already, when he saw them play against Atlético de Madrid: "They are absolutely horrible, terrible!!! They play the worst football in the Primera División. By far!!!". Yup, he can be scary at times with his football tips...
